Compilation of innovative community policing programs across the country for smaller jurisdictions published by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Highlights eleven COPS-funded community policing projects covering a variety of focus areas, such as hiring and deploying additional law enforcement professionals to work in and around primary and secondary schools, hiring additional officers to implement or expand community policing areas in high drug trafficking areas, helping law enforcement agencies partner with local school or school system and community-based organizations to address persistent school-related crime (including bullying) in or around school grounds, as well as other promising programs for small jurisdictions. Programs in Alaska, Tennessee, Connecticut, California, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Arizona, Colorado and Georgia are highlighted.
