National Rural Substance Use Disorder Health Equity and Stigma Summit, May 18-20, 2022
The University of Rochester Medicine Recovery Center of Excellence will hold a Rural Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Health Equity and Stigma Summit to discuss stigma associated with SUD and examine the many challenges created by stigma that significantly impede efforts to overcome the opioid crisis. A focus of this summit will be on rural communities, where limited resources, fewer providers, and lack of anonymity can impose substantial barriers to those seeking SUD/opioid use disorder (OUD) care. Collaborative workshops, personal narratives, and evidence-based practices will be shared. Also, strategies to replicate models of care will be highlighted. Continuing education credits will be offered (CMS, CNE, SW, and psychology credits will be offered).
