Trauma Matters Omaha (to First Responders)- Video

This video (shared on YouTube), created with cooperation from the City of Omaha, helps the viewer understand the impact of trauma from from the first responders and law enforcement perspective. Training first responders and law enforcement on trauma-informed responses is critical to maintaining a level of trust with victims so the responder can understand what circumstance is causing the problem and how to resolve the issue. This may also serve to reduce repeated calls while delivering solutions to the victim. This video also discusses the impact of repeated exposure to trauma, such as child abuse, violence, vehicular accidents, overdoses, etc. on the mental health of first responders. Using trauma-informed care, while understanding trauma, shapes the whole person can improve the quality of life for victims and first responders.
