Intersection of Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare Systems

Literature review which focuses on issues related to dual-system youth (i.e., youth involved in both juvenile and child welfare systems), the characteristics of both systems, predictors of crossover from one system to the other, and the impacts of programming for this population.Included in this literature review are the characteristics of the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, characteristics of dual-system youth, the relationship between child maltreatment and juvenile justice, predictors of juvenile justice system involvement among child welfare youth, system integration, predictors of juvenile justice system involvement among child welfare youth, outcome evidence, and others.
